Marteen is a prolific GRAMMY-nominated composer, music producer, and songwriter based in Los Angeles. His musical experience involves working in a wide range of fields from modern music production, to feature films, TV shows, cartoons, commercials, trailers, and other media work as well as choral and orchestral writing/arranging, and more.
He has worked on projects for SONY Music, Universal Entertainment, Warner Music Group, BMG, Saatchi & Saatchi, Burger King, Pepsi Cola, Cotton, Televisa, Lionsgate, 20th Century Fox, CollegeHumor, Funny or Die, DirecTV, Dreamworks, Fremantle, Intel, BBDO, HBO, PBS, TLC, Telemundo, Weight Watchers, Coca Cola, Hal Leonard, and many more.
Having discovered his love for music at the age of six when his fingers hit that first note on a piano, composing and producing have not only become his work but a life’s passion.
Immediately after high school, Marteen moved to New York City, where working in the music business evolved from pennyless couch-surfing to playing gigs in the bustling Big Apple scene and doing studio sessions. Eventually, Marteen was invited to audition for Madonna’s “Material Girl Tour” to even play live with Jamaaladeen Tacuma at Carnegie Hall with an all-star ensemble of New York’s “who’s who” of the downtown scene.
Next, he turned his sights on producing, writing, and arranging for label artists. Finding himself predominantly working with artists in the Latin Market, he had the chance to create music with many talents such as Caifanes, Reyli, Paulina Rubio, Maldita Vecindad, Alejandra Guzman, Jose Jose, Thalia, Mercedes Sosa, La Secta All-Star, Moderatto, and the acclaimed group FOBIA (considered by many as Mexico’s de-facto Alternative band.) Eventually, Marteen’s edgy creativity paid off when he was nominated for three GRAMMYs from his experience working closely with the Latin Rock-Pop group CIRCO.
Writing and producing for Media Commercials naturally followed, giving him the opportunity to work with household names and music stars such as Celine Dione, Prince, Madonna, Michael Bolton, Marc Cohn, Aaron Neville, Dr. John, George Clinton, Ritchie Havens and Irene Cara with whom they produced the main theme song for the film Downtown.
Ever willing to face new challenges, Marteen was introduced to James Rado and Jerry Ragni of the iconic Broadway musical HAIR, who invited him to collaborate in two new musicals for the next several years with live stints at La Mamma in NYC and workshops around the world.
Whether Broadway Musicals, Film Soundtracks, TV Commercials, Albums, or Remix Singles, Marteen basks in all these disciplines with natural ease and refreshing originality. Having been exposed to various cultures while growing up and picking up a few languages along the way, Marteen’s music is a melting pot of sounds and experiences. A true musical “chameleon.”
Marteen continues to work with diverse artists and new exciting projects around the world, the latest involving a dive into scientific research that explores the relationship between music and its effects on the human brain for healing. Hoping to enlighten people through his sound, the talented producer-composer continues to create and pour his soul into all his projects.
Having built a beautiful and cutting-edge studio haven in Los Angeles, it’s like walking into a parallel universe where sound and vision dreams are possible.
