Piano Performance: Steven Margoshes
Piano Consultant: Dr. Alfredo Malbran
Notes On The Four Movements:
Movement 1 - "The Awakening: Innocence and Light"
The purity of the beginning of life is musically expressed in an innocent and melodic fashion. The dialogue between the emotional singularity of the piano and the polarity of the orchestration captures the diversity of a new world, full of light and sounds. There is beauty and joy in the vibrant harmony of the musical variations by which we are introduced into our new life.
Movement 2 - "Youth: The Happiness of Love"
The music leads us into the stage where we find the plenitude of life, the union of body and spirit, the communion with other keen souls. Youth flows toward love, sincerity and happiness, although also to awareness of anxiety and occasional despair. The music here reflects transparency and intensity in the youthful pursuit of happiness and love.
Movement 3 - "Maturity: Fullness and Passion"
The movement here represents the vibrancy of plenitude, the expression of ambition and passion in the context of accomplishments, and the low tones resulting from life failures and disappointments. It depicts the balance between successes and failures, from what is transcendent and what is inconsequential. Music is the sound of life.
Movement 4 - "Nostalgia: Remembrances and Hope"
The musical rendition of this stage represents our last period of life on Earth, when we reminisce about our past happy moments in contrast with the sad experiences. This ambivalence is musically expressed in contrasting variations depicting both nostalgia and hope, but for those grounded in Faith, the future is not a fearful expectation.
